Frequently Asked Questions

• Do I have to be referred by a doctor or doctors?
No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However most health insurers require a doctors referral before they authorise cover of fees. Some only require a phone call. We stress that patients must contact their individual policy provider to confirm their cover.

How much is the charge for a physiotherapy visit and will my medical coverage cover the cost?
The fee is £58 for each 30 minute session. We also offer extended initial assessment sessions of 45 mins for £81. It is recommended that you check with your individual insurance policy to determine the extent of your cover. All the main health insurance companies cover our fees in full, but it is necessary for you to get the treatment authorised first or straight after your first appointment if that is fairly urgent.

How soon can I be seen by a physiotherapist?
We aim to offer treatment as soon as possible (on that day if required) or at your convenience.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the physiotherapist will discuss their treatment plan.

Can physiotherapists manipulate?
Yes, a chartered physiotherapist with post graduate training is qualified to manipulate. It is more likely that gentle to firm joint mobilizations and soft tissue work will achieve the results without manipulation.

What do I bring along?
Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring X-rays, scan/MRI reports, any referral letter and list of any medication. Loose fitting clothing is recommended (although shorts are available)
